Tiny Dwarf Horse’s Inspiring Story

Posted on July 3, 2019July 3, 2019 by Horse Spirit

Martha is a tiny horse who is not meant to be the size that she is. She was born with a genetic defect that left her leg deformed and as a consequence, she did not have the usual body development that she was supposed to have. The person that owned her didn’t know that she was a dwarf horse, but then a problem on Martha’s leg was noticed.

Her leg came out forward and then down at an angle. It was difficult for Martha to move, but she always had a sense of joy that wouldn’t prevent her from doing what she liked to do, as her owner mentions.

When Martha went for a visit, she was diagnosed with skeletal atavism. “Most horses that have this genetic DNA are put down, the other option is to do surgery” the owner adds. The best solution was trimming Martha’s feet, which resulted in a better way for her.

Her limbs started straightening out and Martha would run for longer periods. She made huge progress and now she is better than how she was. She is just like any other horse. Now Martha is happy that she has a family who loves her and takes care of her.
