Sassy Mare Showing Some Attitude After Not Being Ridden For Two Months

Posted on November 27, 2018 by Horse Spirit

When a horse hasn’t been ridden for a while or a period of time it can be quite unresponsive. Voice commands sometimes don’t seem to function and leg pressure doesn’t do the work. Although the horse can be really intelligent, smart, and have a good temperament, it will never be easy to ride it again without some bucking. What you are going to watch in this video is a sassy mare called Miss Scarlet, who has a hard time having someone on her back and ride her.

This horse has always had a history of bucking but after being trained she became a great horse. As the owner had to deal with other things and didn’t have time to train Miss Scarlet every day she just left her sit in the pasture looking very cute and getting very fat and lazy. When she tried to ride her after two months she got back to her old habit of bucking.

The owner wrote, “After she got all her bucks out (32, I counted) she was very good for the small bit of flatwork I did. I didn’t push her on flatwork when she was being good because she was already sweaty and I wanted to reward her for finally settling down and listening. I will be going out tomorrow to ride again, hopefully outside in the field. We’ll see though. Oh, how I love my sassy girl!” What do you think of this?
