Compton Cowboys Aim To Combat The Negative Stereotypes About African-Americans

Posted on November 1, 2019 by Horse Spirit

In the world that we are living in right now, racism and associated stereotypes with it are still a global problem. One of the biggest missions nowadays is to make everyone understand that there is only one race in the world the human race. A very supportive community that is fighting hard against this phenomenon is the Compton Cowboys.

Let’s get to know them a little better. The Compton Cowboys are a group of friends from childhood who use horseback riding and equestrian culture to provide a positive influence on inner-city youth and to combat negative stereotypes about African-Americans and the city of Compton.

Hidden among the homes and businesses of Compton sits an unlikely stable. At The Compton Jr. Posse, kids from the neighborhood learn to ride and care for horses. They also compete in serious events. Shola Oyefeso, a member of the group, says she’s proud to ride for Compton, and though the horses are donated, that doesn’t change the bond riders have with them.

They all represent unity. They are not trying to make everyone be acceptive towards other races, instead, they are trying to make people understand that racism is wrong. Please watch the video below and enjoy!
