It’s not the first we have decided to talk about the importance of driving safely on the road, especially when you are sharing the road with horse trailers. We all have to be aware of the importance it is to keep horses, our precious creatures, secure and defend them from things that they can’t control by themselves.
Although there have been a lot of actions and projects who have tried to raise awareness by giving very valuable information for all riders, horse owners and drivers, there are a lot of irresponsible people who still drive very carelessly and don’t think about the fact that they may hurt horses.
That’s the main reason that the National Equine Resource Network decided to write an open letter to all the drivers who’ve been sharing the road with horse trailers because it’s very important for them to realize that there are living beings inside the trailers. The letter was posted on their Facebook page in April 2018 and quickly it became viral all over the internet gaining more 7.9K likes and thousands of share.
A lot of people commented on their own terrible experiences on the road and thanked the writers of the letter for raising their voice towards this huge problem. A user even suggested that this letter should be in the driver’s handbook when people go for their license. “So next time you see a horse trailer, consider that there is an animal in there. Please give the rig some space and be patient. By driving carefully, we’ll all get where we’re headed.” Please read the letter below and share it with your other Facebook friends.
